Wellness in 10 / Nutrition

May 25, 2020

Week 5

“Eating is perhaps the single most important act for one’s yoga practice because nourishment of the body’s tissues forms a foundation for nourishment of the mind and emotions.”

-Dr. Scott Blossom

Our beings have deep innate intelligence. We have rhythms and cycles happening all around and within us. These biorhythms are the key to cracking the code on living a life of ease. Ease, easy good – we want it right? Yes we all want easy but what does it mean to live in ease as opposed to dis-ease? It means being freer in the body, it means digesting well, pooping daily, allowing ourselves to live in a state of mental flow. Recognising the joys and feeling expanded. If we tap the ancient knowledge of Ayurveda you will find many methods to bring your body, mind and life to ease. One of those is eating a simple plant based diet that follows the rhythms and cycles of the seasons. As we are in transition to Autumn we notice the gradual shift to the cool, dry, airy state. In Ayurveda we call Autumn Vata season. Our offering to you this week, are 2 simple recipes to eat weekly at this time of year. These include tastes and digestive effects to keep us in balance during Vata season. Making meals with love and care enhances its value of prana.

As Vata has the qualities of light, dry, mobile, rough, cold and clear, we will balance well by eating the opposing quality and tastes in meals.

Join us on instagram this week and enjoy cooking the Ayurvedic meals we will share. Please send your feedback and photos. Stay warm and enjoy this time of rest, it’s perfect.
